The Waiting Game...

This time 2 years ago, we were awaiting the arrival of sweet Emma Claire. I had my epidural and the pitocin was going.. but no progress was being made.. I think at this point I was trying to get some rest.. but seriously, like that could happen!! Cory, my parents, Cory's parents and my sister-in-law Brandy were all keeping me company and helped alleviate the anxiety a bit... I had been there since 10AM...
I was due on the 8th of March.. and of course nothing happened by then.. so Dr. Smith scheduled me to be induced on the 8th.. I was going to go in on Thursday night to be admitted to start induction on the morning of the 9th.. Well you all know how I am quite the planner... so I had EVERYTHING all planned out and ready to go.. so Cory and I were suppose to be there by like 6pm I think, so living in Allen, we left in plenty of time to get there.. well, once we got there I went to admitting like I had been told and out comes the charge nurse. She tells me that L&D is full so they can't admit me since I was considered "Elective". Then she tells me that I have to go home and wait to hear from my doctor. I was so upset.. So Cory was suppose to be working that day, so he had left early so we could go to the hospital. Well he went back to work so I was going to sit at home all alone... My sweet dear sis-in-law Brandy was at her parents house in preparation to come be at the hospital for the delivery, so she offered to come stay the night with me since I was so upset. She came and stayed and we sat up and talked for a while and got all caught up... all the while I was trying to plan when I was having this baby!!!
I got a call at like 8:30 the next morning from Dr.Smith's nurse telling me to come on to the hospital and they would admit me on the floor until a room in L&D opened up. Dr. Smith was on call that day so she wanted to deliver me, which I appreciated!! I was so excited.. Cory had just gotten home from work and Brandy was getting ready to go back to her parents' house... So we got to the hospital by 10 and off we went.. they hooked me up to the monitors and placed a pill in my cervix to help soften things and try to get labor going...
So by 3 pm I was taken to L&D having some contractions (Nothing painful though).. So I think by 4:30 or 5:00 they started the Pitocin in L & D... then came the contractions.. which weren't as bad as I thought (at least at this point in the game). So Dr. Smith came in around 6 and broke my water for me... HOLY COW did this get things going. She advised me then that it might be a good idea to get the epidural since I was wanting one... I should have listened to her then because 30 minutes later I thought I was going to die... Of course it takes time for the anesthesiologist to get there and set things up.. etc.. Then they ask you sit bend forward and sit still while they jab a needle in your back and you're having contractions... HELLO!!! Well I can say that I felt real labor for about an hour and a half.... and hopefully Lord, you will never make me feel that again!!! It was absolutely awful and I have no desire to do that again.. I am a wimp I admit!! So once the epidural was placed, life was great and the waiting game continued...

TO BE CONTINUED....
