The new year has started in full swing. For the first part of the month, we didn't do much around the Tomlin household... just getting things reorganized and caught up on some projects around the house that have been put off. School started back two weeks ago for me and we are going full speed ahead now. I only have 12 weeks left of school (but who's counting). Then I will graduate in May with my master's degree and be Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (when I pass my certification exam in June =) ).
Emma is doing very well, she's growing up so fast. She's talking up a storm saying new words every day! She will turn 2 in March, if you can believe that. She is such a joy! She's slowly recovering from her second cold of the year. Poor thing! She is so funny though! Her new favorite friends now are the Backyardigans! She loves Pablo! Cory and I went on a weekend away to Austin. It was a surprise trip for him (an early birthday present), we left Emma at my parents and spent the weekend there last week. I bought him tickets to see Texas play A&M in men's basketball, we had 10th row seats from the floor... and had a blast! He was so surprised and happy! He deserved it! He has certainly stepped up to the plate and helped out with my school too. He keeps Emma just about every day he is off so I can go to school, clinical or work. Everyone's sacrificing around here, but it will be well worth it, I hope at least!
Please keep Cory's grandfather in your prayers. Lionel Duncan. He is an amazing man and is battling end-stage cancer. He has decided to not do any further treatments and is now at home. Please pray for his comfort, as he is already at peace with this. But his wife is in the nursing home with Alzheimer's as well. Please also keep Cory's mother in your prayers as this is her parents. This is a tough time for the entire family, but most especially for his mom.
We love you and thank you for checking on us!
