"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light".
This verse is so fitting for the season I am in at this point in my life. I need to learn to give it ALL to God and not try to feel like a "burden" to him for doing this. I am one to do everything all on my own so I don't burden others, then I end up a complete mess for trying to do too much! Lord, please teach me to do this. My prayer is that you guide me through this learning process! In my heart I know it will be so much easier if I could do this, but allowing my mind to follow is a bit difficult.
I have a book that I refer to from time to time. I HIGHLY recommend it if you have never read it. It is by Max Lucado "Traveling Light: Releasing the burdens you were never intended to bear". One section is called "Whaddifs and Howells: The Burden of Worry".. if this section wasn't written for me then I don't know who it was written for.... All you worriers out there jump in with me for a second. The author talks about how worry divides the mind- part of our mind is on the now and the other is on the not yet.. He makes several important points..
- God leads us. God will do the right thing at the right time.
- Meet today's problems with today's strengths. Don't start tackling tomorow's problems until tomorrow. You don't have tomorrow's strength yet. You simply have enough for today.
These are great pieces of advice! Lord let me take things one day at a time...
One day at a time!
