We had Emma's baby dedication at church on Father's Day. Our prayer is one day Emma will grow up to accept the Lord as her savior one day on her own. We believe that is a decision that can only come from her, therefore we participated in the baby dedication at our church. We were able to publicly commit our lives to raising Emma in a Godly environment. This was a special time for us as our pastor prayed this prayer for us with the support of our entire church. We pray that we will raise Emma in a loving Christian home. Our desire is to teach her all about God and how much he loves her so she can feel his love all for herself. We also pray that we can live our lives so she can see him through us.
Here's the prayer our pastor prayed for Emma during church at her baby dedication....
"We ask Father that Emma Claire would grow up seeing herself made in the image of God. We pray that she would see that you so loved people made in your image that you gave your only Son that whoever believes in Him should live forever with You. May she enter fully into understanding how wide, long, high and deep is the love of Jesus. May her first taste of this be watching the love between her parents and the love they have for you. In Jesus name, Amen."
We were also blessed enough to have our family there to support us. My parents, Cory's parents, my sister Amy and her family, Cory's brother Ryan and his family, and my grandparents (New's) were all able to come. We missed those in our family who weren't able to make it.
This was truly a special day and was a wonderful 1st Father's Day for Cory.
