Funny Girl

Emma is our little funny girl now... She's pulled all sorts of tricks the last couple of days. Trick #1-> Daddy was on Mr. Mom duty yesterday while I was at work. He decided to take the trash out to the curb for pickup the next morning. Since it was freezing outside, he left Emma in the house. He raised the blinds on the back door so Emma could watch him still. While he was doing the trash, Emma locked the back door. So Cory was standing outside locked out, freezing to death. Emma thought this was funny, so she decided to go on to play peek-a-boo behind the couch with Cory and was laughing away... all the while Cory is begging and trying to convince Emma to unlock the door back. Remember she is only 21 months old! haha! Cory almost panicked and was going back and forth between calling the fire dept to open the door, break a window, call a locksmith... luckily he wasn't cooking dinner on the stove yet. Finally before breaking down and doing something Cory tried one more time to convince Emma to unlock the door, and she did it. Needless to say, he hugged her neck when he got in the house! Talk about panic time..
Trick #2.. Cory went to work today. I had a doctor's appointment so Emma and I were on our way.... cruising down 75 in the HOV lane running a little behind like always... Well I hear Emma coughing and then she started vomiting ... all over her clothes, a puddle in her car seat.. she's crying... I can't pull over because I am in the HOV lane, it reaks of puke and she was sitting in Lake Puke in her car seat. I panicked because being the ICU nurse that I am, I am trying to drive, while tilting her head forward while she pukes so she doesn't aspirate and get pneumonia.. Oh Lord.. It finally came.. my first humbling Mommy moment. I had no change of clothes for Emma, so at the parking lot at Presby Dallas, I stripped her sweater off, cleaned her up as best I could and went in.. Luckily we were in and out in 10 minutes and my doctor is so wonderful... she completely understood being the mother of 2, almost 3 kids.. So we came home still smelling like vomit and got her all cleaned up with new clothes and cleaned the car seat... I am hoping airing my car out overnight in the garage will get that awful smell out of my car...
She just vomited the once... she does have a sensitive gag reflex.. she gets that honestly!
Well we are gearing up for Christmas... very excited about seeing family, eating good food and having some quality family time. We can't wait to see Emma open her gifts ... this will be her first Christmas that she understands what is going on! We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Enjoy your time with your loved ones and be safe traveling!
Love to you all,
Tomlins
