June 2008

June has been a very full month for our family. Emma turned 15 months old... she is a mess. She is full of surprises every day. The biggest things in her life this month was the discovery of her belly button ("belly but" has she calls it). She is obsessed with hers and everyone else's belly button she can find. She is saying more words every day. She is still quite the picky eater. She is eating a few more things, but not many. She had her check up with Dr. Lanman that went great, except for the big ordeal of the month. She had this rash on her leg that totally worried her mom and dad to death. We thought it was Shingles, but then the cultures came back that it wasn't. So who knows what it was. The good thing is that now it's gone and it never bothered her. Thank you Lord! She is such a sweet girl though, she is so funny now at nighttime... she'll say "Night Night" and tell us she's ready for bed... which is great! She's a great sleeper 95% of the time.
I've been so busy with school, but a good kind of busy. I am taking one class that is mostly clinical hours. I am spending the summer with Dr.Lanman who is Emma's pediatrician. It has been a wonderful experience. I have learned so much from Dr. Lanman and everyone has been so good to me there. Even better is that it literally takes me 15 minutes to get there, which is unheard of in the Tomlin life! I only have one more month of summer school, then I get a 3 week break until the Fall semester starts. The Fall is going to be very busy as my clinical hours almost double and I have to do my Thesis/Professional Paper. It will be 8 hours in the Fall. That with working and being a wife and mom will be hard. But I know God will see me through it. I can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel. I will be graduate in May and I look forward to practicing as a nurse practitioner.
Cory is doing really well. He's been on Super Daddy duty this summer and has not complained one bit. He is so good to Emma and I, we are truly blessed to have him in our lives. He works and then takes care of her by himself several days a week while I work and go to school. We are all definitely making sacrifices. Don't feel too sorry for him though, he's still fitting in a few rounds of golf here and there.
We went to East Texas last week for a few days to see Cory's family. We got to take our boat out, it was Emma's first time on the boat. She did ok, not good at first, but she warmed up to it. She hated the life jacket. But we had a great time, she definitely has her grandparents and aunt and uncle around her finger. She had so much fun playing with her cousins Cayden and Jackson as well. The funniest thing is she discovered their sippy cup and her Aunt Brandy even let her bring one home. She never sat the thing down, even in the car when she was asleep. So I went and bought her new ones and she loves her big girl sippy cups with no handles. She is such a big girl. She promoted to a booster seat at the dinner table this week as well.
We hope you are all well. We love you all and thank you for checking on us!
